Dr Sunny Akpoyibo has highly impressive operational capabilities and an extensive renewable energy project portfolio covering the continents of Asia (China, and India), Europe (Germany), and Africa (Nigeria, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Kenya, and Rwanda); with the company having installed over 10Megawatt Renewable Energy capacity in Nigeria, which is equivalent to emissions reduction of 10,372 tCO2eq/year..
As the Principal Founder, President and CEO of Asteven International Company LTD, Head – Quartered in Germany and founded in 2010, Dr. Akpoyibo has over 18years experience as a consultant in the field of Renewable Energy with areas of expertise including, but not limited to the provision of Solar Water Pumping Systems, Solar Streetlights, Solar Kiosk, Solar Home Lightening Kits, Solar Home Systems, Energy Efficient appliances, Alternative power generation solutions for both domestic and commercial utilization and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Projects
Having served as the Managing Director of GSA Dienstlesstung Gmbit in Gelsenkurchen Germany between 2005-2010, he was a member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) in FX Global Limited, UK and Germany. He was also a Solar Energy Consultant to Chevron Nigeria Limited in their Warri, Delta State CDP Department. He also founded a Charity Organization named Akpoyibo Green Foundation, which actively focuses on the SDG 6 to promote sustainable and clean energy access.
With a Doctorate in Business Management and recently honored with a Doctorate Degree (Honoris Causa) Business Administration from Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State, he is a multiple award winner; boasting awards from notable platforms amongst which are the SEA Awards, CED Awards, Nigerian Brand Awards and NAEE Awards.
Dr. Akpoyibo belongs to several renewable energy associations amongst which are: Sustainable Energy Practitioners Association of Nigeria (SEPAN) where he is a member, Board of Trustees; Member, Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN); and Fellow, Solar Energy Society of Nigeria.
Imamuddeen Talba is a legal and regulatory expert with decades of experience garnered at both local and international level. A lawyer by training, he was for almost two decades the Legal Advisor/Secretary of the National Insurance Corporation (NAICOM). On leaving there, he was at NERC holding several positions, even appointed as acting administrator/CEO of the commission while holding brief also as Head, Renewables, Research and Development; a position he held alongside being a Technical Adviser to the then Minister of Power. He has also being an executive member of Energy Regional Regulators Association as well as being a proficient speaker at international energy, renewable technologies and power regulatory conferences all over the world.
Sam Ifeanyi Nwosu, a communications, brand development and energy consultant, has garnered quite a resume traversing diverse sectors; which has instilled an understanding of the various realities of the Nigerian Business sector and their interactions with the environment. The Executive Director of Nature Hedge, a budding media communications and publishing firm, he is the Editor of the newly launched Environment Africa Magazine, conceptualized to change and enhance cross-sector understanding and participation in the Environment, not just as a social advocacy but as a business policy. He also doubles as the Project Coordinator of the Annual Nigeria Photovoltaic Energy Conference ‘Solarcon’; founder and convener of the Women in Renewable Energy Nigeria Annual Cross-Sector forum, co-founder of the biennial Sustainable Environment and Advocacy Awards, Executive Director of Alternatrix, an innovative energy solutions start-up; and co-convener, Energy Business Roundtable.
He has a deep interest in bottom-of- the-pyramid (BOP) development interventions and also utilization of renewable energy technologies and applications, and also in the use of enhanced dynamic communication initiatives and skills to promote knowledge and understanding of Environmental considerations in the Nigerian society and economic sectors.

She had her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Masters degree in Land Surveying. She has worked with prominent construction companies such as; Sageto Construction Company in Lagos, Gilmor Engineering Nigeria Ltd and Alora Engineering Company, all in Abuja.
She’s the founder of Adenike Charity Foundation (Acf), C.E.O Of Niakk International Business Limited, Chicago,IL. USA & Nigeria, C.E.O of NHH Solution Limited, Nigeria and C.E.O of NIAD Construction Limited.
Currently the National Publicity Secretary of CREN, Dr. Uzodinma Adirieje who is an Energy, Environment, Health and Development advocate/practitioner; also holds a very strategic position as Chairman, Steering Committee, Nigeria Associations of CSO’s and NGO’s on SDGs. He attended/participated in 2018 African Ministerial Conference on Environment (AMCEN) in Nairobi and 2018 meetings of Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). As a member of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), Dr. Adirieje is partnering stakeholders to promote Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Energy Conservation, sustainable Biodiversity and Ecosystem. He is the President, Society for Conservation and Sustainability of Energy and Environment in Nigeria (SOCSEEN); Chair of National Technical Working Committee, Nigeria Science Policy Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (NiPBES); member, International Solar Energy Society (ISES).
During 2017-2018, Dr. Adirieje was Project Director of the vastly media-reported ‘Sustainable Citizen Participation (SCP) in Nigeria’s Niger Delta’ Project funded by United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF); which addressed many Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) challenges across eighty-one communities/LGAs in Niger Delta – home to about 30 million. A Nigerian government-accredited management trainer/facilitator, Dr. Adirieje
educates people about imperatives of sustainable energy and environmental approaches, which he advocates ceaselessly. He’s CEO, Afrihealth Optonet Association [CSOs network], with ECOSOC consultative status at the United Nations. Member, Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). He’s a Fellow and National President of the Nigerian Association of Evaluators, and Chairman of the national World Malaria Day Committee in Nigeria.
ADVISORY BOARD:
On November 13, 2014 during the Nigeria Photovoltaic Energy Conference ‘Solarcon’, the first ever Advisory Board of the Council for Renewable Energy Nigeria was inaugurated. This was borne out of a need to ensure quality of advice as well as utilize the experience of varied expertise towards the large scale implementation of Renewable Energy in Nigeria.
Members of the Board were drawn out of notable professionals with varied experiences and expertise to have a reflection of the various concerns regarding Renewable Energy for total understanding of the issues involved in Renewable Energy Development. From the royal house, to government, to the power sector to women groups, media, oil and gas to agriculture; the members of the Board represent a stunning array of accumulated and practical expertise.
Fastforward to 2019, immediately after the election of new executives when the advisory board was reconstituted with new expertise to bring fresh ideas, perspectives and energy towards achieving the goal of implementing clean energy and promoting sustainable energy access through CREN’s activities to Nigeria.
Currently, the chairman, ministerial taskforce on power, Prof. Sambo is widely acknowledged globally as a key authority in energy systems and issues; hardly needing any introduction. He was a former Vice Chair, Africa Region of the World Energy Council, Past D.G of Energy Commission Nigeria (ECN), Former Vice Chancellor, Kaduna State University and Ahmadu Bello University. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering and Nigerian Society of Engineers. Member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), International Solar Energy Society (ISES), International Energy Foundation (IEF), Member of the World Renewable Energy Network (WREN), Member of the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria and also Member of the Nigerian Academy of Science. Prof. Sambo has published more than 200 articles in journals, conference proceedings and technical reports. Professor Sambo is the Nigerian Representative at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Honorary Officer of World Energy Council and Chair, WEC Nigeria member Committee. He is a recipient of the National Productivity Order of Merit and also National Awardee as Officer of Order of the Niger.
Chief Mrs. Anita Nana Okuribido is known widely as ‘Mama Renewable Energy’ for her passionate zeal towards championing the cause of renewable energy in Nigeria. Having previously held the position of Secretary General in CREN for several years, she has garnered an enviable knowledge and expertise of the global and national renewable energy sector and her core drives remain the empowerment of rural homesteads, agricultural development and sustainability. She is a Deputy President of the Naccima Women Group (NAWOG) and a member of Ecowas Women group. She is also the Managing Director of Siman Engineering and a member of the organizing committee of the Nigeria PV Solar Energy Conference (Solarcon); and currently serves as the National President of the Women in Renewable Energy Association, WIRE-A and Founder, Smiling Simin Greenbuild Foundation.
She recently added another feather as she established and launched the Women in Green Institute; a center for training of Women in Green Energy Skills and Entrepreneurship.
His Royal Highness, Igwe of Okija Community is a quintessential gentleman. A professional’s professional, he has shown the capacity of Nigerian professionals to undertake the most complex projects which formerly were denied Nigerian professionals due to a perceived lack of competency and capacity. His firm, Otis Engineering is notably the national consultant for the National Integrated Power Projects, NIPP, the bedrock of Nigeria’s quest for adequate power generation alongside Lahmeyer International, a german company, Consultant for the Ajaokuta Steel Plant Construction Project, Afam IV Thermal Power Station, Katsina Wind Energy Construction Project, Kainji and Jebba Hydropower Stations.
Engr. Anyaeji has over 36 years of experience in multiple engineering sectors that includes Electric Power, Automobiles, Steel, and Oil & Gas. Prior to founding O.T OTIS, Anyaeji worked in various engineering roles for Peugeot, the Nigerian Ports Authority, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. He was instrumental to the establishment of the Center for Automotive Design and Development and was appointed Chairman of National Automotive Council on the backdrop of the excellent work done on the drafting of the National Automotive Policy in 1993 which was approved by the President.
A Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka(UNN), he has been chairman of several institutes including pioneer chairman of Regulation and Control Committee (COREN), the Institute of Cost Appraisers &Cost Engineers, Automotive Engineers institute and currently the Chairman of Electric Power Foundation.
Engr. Rotimi Oladimeji is committed to the development of renewable energy and its practical applications. A graduate of Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO, he has exceptional interests in Agricultural, Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. An innovator, he Designed and installed the first ever Solar Powered Borehole prototype in Ondo, Osun, Edo and Imo States. He also identified corrosiveness of Indian Mark III hand pumps in most boreholes in the rural communities of Ondo state and proffered the solution which saved more than 80,000 village people from the use of 300 contaminated borehole water hand pumps between 2009 and 2010.
He was the Designer of the KAMOMI WATER Supply Scheme in Ondo State, which got the Governor the 2013 Water Awards of Excellence as the Best Governor in the South West in 21st March 2013 by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources in Abuja. The Scheme provides 80% -100% of potable water supply in a benefited community. A professional of unflagging commitment, Engr. Rotimi was responsible for the preparation of the standard BEME specification for hand pump and solar pump installed boreholes which have been in use since 2003 till date in PPMU office. Having attended various conferences and seminars globally and represented the Ondo State Government as well as leading State delegations to strategic workshops, he has a bias for water, sanitation and renewable energy technologies. A registered COREN engineer, he is a Member of several professional bodies including; Nigerian Water Supply Association(NWSA), Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers (NIWE), Institute of Appraisers and Cost Engineers (IACE), Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN), Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) and Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers amongst others. Presently, he is the General Manager of Ondo State Water and Sanitation Agency.
